What is the Deck Restoration Process?
The process for restoring timber deckings can involve a variety of steps depending on the age and condition of the decking boards. The process can also be more involved if we need to remove existing products to restore the deck, versus working with bare timber.
However, the first step in this process is to contact the Hunter Coast Painting team for a free quote. Once we’ve inspected the deck, we will send you a quote for services and costs – from here you can make changes to the quote or, if everything is correct, you can approve the quote and we can start work.
If the quote approved, the next step is to clear the deck of all outdoor furniture and put it somewhere safe. This will allow the team to get straight into working on your project.
The next step is to complete any repairs to the deck and prep the timber for the new product. This could include fixing broken boards or stripping the timber, as well as cleaning the deck in preparation for staining or painting.
Once prepped, our team will apply the paint or stain, and apply as many coats as needed to protect your deck all year round.
Can an Old Deck Be Restored?
The short answer is yes!
Most decks, even decks that are over a decade old, can be restored if they are in a solid enough condition. If the deck is too damaged, it may be that you will need to remove it and build an all new deck, but in many cases it’s very possible to restore even a very old deck.
